ORLANDO, Fl. --Â Hampden-Sydney College closed out the spring break trip with a 5-4 defeat to Wabash (IN) College, Tuesday afternoon in Orlando, Florida.
H-SC started out doubles action with a loss in the third doubles, with freshman
Tanner Allison (Midlothian) and sophomore
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) falling 8-4. Shortly after they finished, freshman
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and fellow classmate
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) won an 8-5 match in the second doubles. In the top doubles match, it was a close match between the Wabash pair and sophomores
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and
John Kendrick (Birmingham, AL), as they won by a point in an 8(9)-7(7) scoreline match to take a 2-1 lead into the singles matches.
Foster and McReynolds took victories in singles action for the Tigers, with Foster winning 6-3, 6-3, and McReynolds taking his match 6-4, 6-4.
Matt Kendrick fell first in singles action for the Tigers with a 6-1, 6-2 match. Sophomore
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) played a tight first set, losing it 7(7)-6(3) before he lost the second to drop the match 7(7)-6(3), 6-1. Sophomore
Henry Singleton (Richmond) fell in his match 6-4, 6-2, while freshman
John Glassner (Charlotte, NC) dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match.
The Tigers will be back in action for the home opening and conference opening match against Randolph-Macon College. The match is scheduled to being at 4 p.m. at the H-SC Tennis Courts.
