Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) won both his singles and doubles match to help power, Hampden-Sydney College to a 7-2 victory over Saint John's (MN) University, Tuesday night in Orlando, Florida.
H-SC took two of three in doubles matches. Foster and his partner sophomore
John Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) won their match in commanding fashion 8-1. Also taking a doubles victory, was the pair of freshman
Tanner Allison (Midlothian) and freshman
John Glassner (Charlotte, NC), taking the match 8-3 for the first doubles victory of their careers. Senior captain
Patrick Conde (Virginia Beach) and sophomore
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) came up short in their match, losing by a score of 8-5.
The Tigers kept it rolling into singles action, winning five of the six singles matches on the night. Foster led off singles action with a 6-4, 6-1 victory and was followed up by a 6-4, 6-2 victory by freshman
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon).
Matt Kendrick won his singles match 6-1, 6-3, and freshman
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) won 6-4, 6-0. Sophomore
Henry Singleton (Richmond) won a hard-fought three-set match, after losing the first set 6-3, he battled back winning set two 7(7)-6(4), and then the third set he took 10-8. In the final singles match, Conde took his match to three sets, after dropping the first 6-2, he battled back winning the second 7(7)-6(4), before being beaten in the final set 10-4.
The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 8, when they take on Piedmont (GA) University at 12 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.
