Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and freshman
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) picked up the only point for Hampden-Sydney College in an 8-1 loss to Schreiner (TX) University, Tuesday morning in Orlando, Florida.
Coffey and McReynolds grabbed the Tigers only victory in the second doubles match by a score of 8-6. Sophomores
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and
John Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) fell in the top doubles match 8-5. In the final doubles match, sophomore
Henry Singleton (Richmond) and fellow classmate
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) were defeated 8-6.
Foster led off singles action, playing a close first set before ultimately being defeated in two sets 7-6, 6-1. McReynolds was defeated in the second singles match, 6-3, 6-4, before sophomore
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) played a three-set classic that ended 0-6, 6-4, 11-13. Both Fox and Coffey pushed their matches to three sets before being defeated 1-6, 6-4, 0(5)-1(10), and 2-6, 6-4, 0(8)-1(10) respectively. Singleton dropped the final singles match in two sets by a score line of 6-1, 6-2.
The Tigers will be back in action tonight, Tuesday, March, 3 when they take on Saint John's (MN) University at 6:00 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.
