Team Captains for the upcoming 2022 season. Leading the Tigers will be fifth-year quarterback
Tanner Bernard (Lynchburg), fifth-year cornerback
Jordan Fields (Chapel Hill, NC), fifth-year defensive tackle
Michael Harris (St. Stephens Church) and junior offensive tackle
TJ Minter (Chester). Bernard becomes a two-time team captain after serving in the leadership role last season, as well.

Tanner Bernard was a First Team All-ODAC selection a year ago after starting all 10 games and completing 181-305 passes (59.3%) for 2,546 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding 50 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns for 2,596 yards of total offense. He led the ODAC in passing yards, passing yards per game (254.6), passing yards per completion (14.07), and passing attempts and completions, while second in passing touchdowns, passing efficiency (140.4) and passing yards per attempt (8.35), and third in completion percentage. A two-time All-ODAC selection, Bernard has started all 15 career games since transferring from UVA Wise in January of 2021, completing 253-424 career passes (59.7%) for 3,479 career yards and 23 career touchdowns, adding 88 career yards rushing and two career rushing touchdowns for 3,567 yards of total offense. Tanner is the son of Jason and Marsha Bernard.
Jordan Fields was limited by injury to four starts last fall and had 15 total tackles, including five solo and 10 assists, one tackle for loss and three pass breakups. He has started 14 of 19 career games with 55 total career tackles, including 26 solo and 29 assists, one career tackle for loss, two career interceptions, three career pass breakups and one career PAT/interception return for two points. Jordan is the son of Damien and Tishanna Fields.

Michael Harris was a Second Team All-ODAC selection a year ago after starting all 10 games with 29 total tackles, including four solo and 25 assists, and 1.5 tackles for loss. He has started 20 of 24 career games with 72 total career tackles, including 24 solo and 48 assists, six career tackles for loss and 0.5 career sacks. Michael is the son of
Michael Harris and Rabah Penn.

TJ Minter was a First Team All-ODAC selection last fall after starting all 10 games and anchoring the offensive line from his left tackle position. The Tigers accounted for 3,585 yards of total offense (358.5), including 956 yards rushing (95.6) and 2,629 yards passing (262.9) with 35 touchdowns. He allowed just one sack last season. TJ is the son of the late Tony Minter and Catherine Minter.
