ROCKY MOUNT, Nc. – The Hampden-Sydney Tennis team continued their weekend road trip, by traveling south to North Carolina for a non-conference match-up with North Carolina Wesleyan.  The Battling Bishops had played a numbers of matches this year and were coming into Sunday with a record of 22-3.  This was an opportunity for the Tigers to face a strong team, while trying to pick up a win to end the weekend.

Freshmen Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach, VA) and Senior Tyler Brice (Rocky Mount, NC), who was back at in front of family and friends, dropped the No. 1 doubles, 8-0, while Freshmen Henry Singleton (Richmond, VA) and Freshman Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) fell, 8-2 in their No. 2 match.  In No. 3 doubles, Freshmen Frank Bordon (Durham, NC) and John Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) fought hard but were unable to get the win, falling by a score of 8-5.

The singles session began with Bordon falling in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 match, followed by Freshman Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach, VA) suffering a 6-1, 6-1 setback in No. 3 singles.  J. Kendrick would drop the No. 6 match 6-0, 6-2, while Brice could not hold on in his No. 2 match, as he was defeated 6-1, 6-0.  As the day was coming to an end,
the No. 5 singles match saw Singleton fall 6-0, 6-2 and Foster come up short in No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-3., to close out the match with a final score of 9-0.

Hampden-Sydney will return home, after six straight road trips, on Tuesday, April 19, for an ODAC match against Bridgewater.  First serve is scheduled for 3:30pm
