ORLANDO, Fl - Hampden-Sydney College had a setback on the second day of matches in Florida, falling to a strong Case Western Reserve (OH) team by a final score of 9-0. Today was a pro-style scored event and the Tigers would send six players to the court to participate in three doubles matches, along with six singles matches.
The day began with Fr.
Barret Foster (Virginia Beach, VA) and Sr.
Tyler Brice (Rocky Mount, NC) falling in a close No. 1 doubles match, 8-5, while fellow Freshmen
Frank Borden (Durham, NC) and
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, Al) fell to their opponents, 8-2, in No. 2 singles. The final doubles match of the day, saw Fr.
Henry Singleton (Richmond, VA) and Fr.
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach, VA) fall, 8-0, to give the Spartans the early sweep.
Case Western Reserve also swept the singles matches, with Foster falling 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, Brice in the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-1, and Fox in No. 3 match, 6-0, 6-0. To finish out the day, Both Borden and Singleton fell by scores of 6-0, 6-0, while Kendrick lost in the No. 6 match, 6-1, 6-0.
The Tigers will return to action in Orlando on Wednesday, as they face John Carroll (OH) at 12:00pm, and that will be followed by a match against Covenant, which began this morning but could not be completed due to time constraints. Please stay tuned to
