HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College freshman wide receiver Mason Cunningham (Arlington) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for games played the weekend of October 6-8. Cunningham was selected for his outstanding efforts during a 35-16 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) road win at Ferrum College.
 
Cunningham had game-and career-highs of 163 yards receiving on 13 receptions and three touchdowns at Ferrum on Oct. 8. The first-year standout had touchdown receptions of 18 yards in the first quarter, 36 yards in the second quarter and 42 yards in the third quarter—each from fifth-year quarterback Tanner Bernard, who passed for a game-high and career-high 440 yards and four touchdowns. On the final touchdown drive covering 90 yards on 13 plays, Cunningham caught six passes for 74 yards, including the career-long touchdown reception.
 
Through five games, Mason has 380 yards receiving on 30 receptions and four touchdowns with a long reception of 42 yards. He is second in the ODAC in receptions, tied for second in receiving touchdowns, third in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (76.0), and seventh in yards per reception (12.7). Cunningham was also named to this week's DC Touchdown Club College Player of the Week Honor Roll for his efforts at FC.
 
H-SC returns home to welcome ODAC member Averett University on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium. The game will take place during the College's annual Friends & Family Weekend.
