HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – The Hampden-Sydney tennis team looked to make the most of their 2021 home opener when they took on Emory & Henry College. The Tigers were ahead after they won two of the three doubles matches, but the Wasps came back and claimed four of the six singles to clinch the 5-4 win over H-SC.
The team of sophomore Patrick Conde/Virginia Beach and freshman David Hudson/Roanoke made quick work of their opponents at number three doubles, easily picking up the 8-3 win.
Senior Andrew Donelson/McLean and junior Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, NC trailed at number one doubles, 6-4, but came back and forced a tiebreaker at 7-7. After jumping out to a 4-2 lead and switching ends of the court, the duo was forced to switch again with the Wasps at 6-6 in the tiebreaker.
