Box Score ASHLAND, VA – The #20 Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets defeated Hampden-Sydney Basketball 90-67 on Wednesday night.
The game was close through the first few minutes and was highlighted by three consecutive dunks from Khobi Williamson (Norfolk, VA/Maury), the last tying the game at 6-6. Randolph-Macon would gradually go up by 10 with 4:42 left in the half, and they would lead by 10+ points the rest of the contest, leading by as many as 29 points in the second half.
Williamson scored 17 points with 11 rebounds, including five dunks, as he shot 8-13. Greg Lewis (Mechanicsville, VA/Hanover) tallied 15 points, going 5-11 from the floor.
The lone Yellow Jacket in double figures was Chris Hamilton who was white hot from the field, scoring 27 points while going 8-8 from three and 3-3 from the foul line.
Hampden-Sydney shot 27-55 (49.1%) from the field but struggled elsewhere at 5-16 (31.3%) from three and 8-15 (53.3%) from the free throw line. Randolph-Macon was 34-60 (56.7%) overall, 10-19 (52.6%) from deep, and 12-18 (66.7%) at the charity stripe. H-SC held a 32-29 rebounding edge, but turned over the ball 20 times compared to just 12 giveaways for R-MC, leading to a 21-6 Yellow Jacket advantage in points off turnovers.
Hampden-Sydney travels to Salem, VA on Saturday to battle Roanoke College in the regular season finale at 2 pm.
