Courtney Faller is in his first year as the Head Swimming Coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2025-26. He previously served as the assistant coach and swim instructor at the Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina since March 2023, has been the Aquatics Learning Director for the FitCatZ program at the College of Charleston since October 2022 and founded the Hurricane Swim Academy in 2018 for teaching daily lessons.
Faller planned, organized and ran daily practices for seasonal competitive swim teams at the Country Club, while assisting the head coach in all team activities and communications. In addition to teaching daily lessons, he helped grow the program to its largest size in 10 years, as the youngest age group consistently finished among the Top 10 in the league.
Faller was responsible for curriculum, training, standards and objectives for occupational therapy students at the College of Charleston, while working with neurodiverse students of all ages. He supervised daily lessons for all students and instructors, and helped grow participation and retention, regularly assisting with individual lessons, as well. His responsibility with the Hurricane Swim Academy included teaching daily lessons according to private curriculum and maintaining progress logs for all students, while communicating and scheduling lessons on a daily basis.
Faller has an extensive background in aquatics, additionally serving as a Water Safety Instructor for the City of Charleston (2020-22), Head Coach of the Low Country Lightning (2017-19), Head Coach and Aquatics Director of the I’on Club (2012-17), Head Site Coach for the City of Charleston Swim Team (2001-04) and Assistant Senior Coach for Green Mountain Aquatics (1996-99) in Vermont.
The Burlington, Vermont native graduated from the University of Michigan in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science with a minor in marketing. He was a three-year member of the Wolverines swim team and earned Academic All Big 10 honors.
