High School: Played two years each of swimming, track, and football ... Was a defensive and offensive lineman on the football team and participated in the 200m sprint and shot out when on the track team ... Graduated with honors.

Personal: A Foreign Affairs major with a minor in German ... Also a member of the Rugby team ... A Patrick Henry Scholar and a four-time Dean's List member ... President of the German Club and member of the International Club ... Son of Bob and Laura Boal ... Has one brother, Michael, and one sister, Ellen.

Why did I choose H-SC?: "I chose Hampden-Sydney because I knew that I would get a better education here than at Georgia State University where I was going. I also liked the fact that Hampden-Sydney was a small community where students knew one another, and I could get involved. The Honor Code was also something that drew me to Hampden-Sydney because I wanted to be able to trust my fellow students."
