GREENSBORO, NC -- Hampden-Sydney College took wins in every event en route to a 187-12 victory over Greensboro (NC) College Saturday morning at the Royce Reynolds Family Student Life Center Pool.
In the first relay event of the morning, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the foursome of seniors
Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA),
Matt Brooks (Springfield), and
Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria), along with sophomore
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), took the win with a time of 1:53.43, edging out the foursome of seniors
Charles Adams (Mechanicsville) and
Carson Mann (Matthews, NC), sophomore
Mason Brooking (Orange), and freshman
Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville), who posted a time of 2:02.05.
In the final relay event, the 200 Yard Freestyle, the foursome of Brooks, Hardimon, Ragsdale, and senior
Cody Carnes (Hartfield) took the win with a time of 1:42.98. Taking second in the event was the foursome of Adams, senior
Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), and sophomores
Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA) and
Ben Gerber (New Bern, NC) with a time of 1:50.24, and shortly behind in third with a time of 1:52.86 was the group of Mann, junior
Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL), sophomore
Roger Adams (Chatham), and freshman
Jordan Chorbaji (Charlottesville).
Hardimon took the first individual event win for the Tigers on the day, as his time of 2:00.65 just edged out the time of 2:03.10 from Brooks in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Gonzalez grabbed third place in the event with a time of 2:06.44. Chorbaji and Mann took fifth and sixth in the event respectively, with times of 2:23.77 and 2:24.21.
H-SC took the top four spots in the 100 Yard Backstroke, with Ragsdale claiming the top spot with a time of 1:00.14, just over a second faster than second-place Hyde's time of 1:01.18. Â Gerber took third place with a time of 1:11.69 and finishing fourth with a time of 1:14.15 was Piazza.
Owen Renfrow took first place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, as his time of 1:09.01 earned him the win over the time of 1:22.72 from Brooking in second place.
Gonzalez took the win in the 200 Yard Breaststroke posting a time of 2:25.51
Carnes took the top spot in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.42 seconds, more than two seconds ahead of second place. Chorbaji took third place with a time of 27.50 and was followed in fifth place by
Roger Adams' time of 28.15.
Carnes made it two straight wins in the 100 Yard Freestyle after posting a time of 51.98 seconds. Brooks finished in second with a time of 54.15 seconds, with Brooking in third with a time of 1:00.97. Fourth was Mann with a time of 1:05.26, with
Roger Adams in fifth with a time of 1:06 flat, and sixth was Chorbaji with a time of 1:12.64.
Ragsdale grabbed his second win of the meet with his time of 2:17.93 in the 200 Yard Backstroke. Finishing second was Hyde with a time of 2:26.64, and Gerber came home in third with a time of 2:48.21.
Owen Renfrow took his second win in the 200 Yard Breaststroke after posting a time of 2:39.82. Piazza grabbed second place in the event with a time of 2:56.39.
In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Hardimon came home to take first place with a time of 5:53.81, just finishing ahead of the time of 5:59.41 from Gonzalez in second place.
Hyde took his first win of the meet in the 100 Yard Butterfly after posting a time of 1:00.45. Just over two seconds behind in second place was Gerber with a time of 1:02.88 and placing third was Brooking with a time of 1:12.66.
In the final individual event of the meet, the 200 Yard IM, Carnes took his third win of the meet with his time of 2:21.99.
Owen Renfrow grabbed second place with a time of 2:27.15 and Piazza finished in third with a time of 2:37.93.
The Tigers will finish out the regular season with a trip to Sweet Briar College to take on Bridgewater College on Saturday, January 25. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Prothro Natatorium.
