HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College got event wins from seniors
Cody Carnes (Hartfield) and
Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria) but fell 146-58 to Randolph-Macon College, Friday night at Leggett Pool.
H-SC got off to a good start in the first event of the evening, the 200 Meter Medley Relay, as the foursome of Carnes, Hardimon, sophomore
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), and freshman
Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) placed second with a time of 1:55.14.
In the second and final relay event of the evening, the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay, the group of seniors
Matt Brooks (Springfield),
Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), and
Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA), and sophomore
Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA) placed fourth with a time of 1:49.07. Finishing fifth in the event was the foursome of seniors
Charles Adams (Mechanicsville), and
Carson Mann (Matthews, NC), and sophomores
Mason Brooking (Orange), and
Roger Adams (Chatham) with a time of 2:01.45.
In the first individual event of the evening, the 800 Meter Freestyle, sophomore
Ben Gerber (New Bern, NC) placed fourth with a time of 11:31.75.
Hardimon was the top finisher in the 200 Meter Freestyle, placing third with a time of 2:09.67.
Charles Adams grabbed sixth in the event with a time of 2:27.38, with
Cole Renfrow in seventh with a time of 2:27.38, and Mann in eighth with his time of 2:43.65.
Carnes grabbed a second-place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle, as this time of 24.74 seconds was only 17 seconds off the win. Brooks took seventh in the event with a time of 26.33 seconds. Brooking secured a 12th-place finish in the event with a time of 28.99 seconds and
Roger Adams finished 13th with a time of 30.88 seconds.
In the 100 Meter IM, Ragsdale grabbed second place with a time of 1:05.98. Gonzalez finished fifth in the event with a time of 1:09.82 and
Owen Renfrow finished sixth with a time of 1:10.88.
Carnes grabbed his victory in the 50 Meter Butterfly with his time of 26.92 seconds. Gerber took fifth place in the event with a time of 29.49 seconds followed by Gonzalez in sixth with a time of 29.72 seconds. Sophomore
Ronan Self (Bowling Green) finished 10th with a time of 30.41 seconds and Brooking finished 11th with a time of 31.74.
Charles Adams was the next to finish in 13th with a time of 32.26 seconds and
Roger Adams finished 15th with a time of 43.50 seconds.
Brooks was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 100 Meter Freestyle, as his time of 58.37 seconds was good for second place. Hyde was the next to finish in the event, taking fourth place with a time of 58.73 seconds. Self finished sixth in the event with a time of 1:07.50 and Mann took eighth with a time of 1:09.10.
In the 50 Meter Backstroke, Ragsdale took a second-place finish after posting a time of 30.46 seconds. Hyde finished fifth in the event after posting a time of 33.13 seconds.
Hardimon took his victory in the 400 Meter Freestyle, as his time of 4:35.08 was more than 17 seconds faster than second place. Gerber in the event placed fifth, posting a time of 5:36.64.
In the final individual event of the evening, the 50 Yard Breaststroke,
Owen Renfrow got the better of his brother Cole, taking third with a time of 33.55 seconds, while Cole finished fourth with a time of 34.51 seconds.
The Tigers will be back in action on November 22-23 when they compete in the William Peace (NC) University Invitational.
