Hampden-Sydney Golf B Team Stands Fifth At SU Spring Fling Tournament In Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Hampden-Sydney College's B Golf Team posted a first-round score of 325 on Thursday to stand fifth among 10 teams in the SU Spring Fling tournament being hosted by Shenandoah University at The Legends of Orange Lake Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. Junior Varun Yerramsetti/Birmingham, Ala. is leading the Tigers with an opening round of 79, tied for 10th among the 56 golfers at the par 72, 6,665-yard layout.

Yerramsetti is being followed by sophomores Sam McNamara/Charlottesville (81, 19th) and Keith Marks/Midlothian (82, T-20th), freshman Trevor Elliott/Richmond (83, T-24th), and senior John David Gooden/Myrtle Beach, S.C. (84, T-29th).

Swarthmore (Pa.) is leading the event with its first-round 301, while Michael Brown of Swarthmore has the individual lead with his opening round of 73.

H-SC will continue and complete its B Team competition in the two-day, 36-hole event on Friday in central Florida.
