SALEM, Va. – Freshman Justin Stimpson/Farmville ran a season-best 8K time of 29:05.8 to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Green Hill Park in Salem. Washington and Lee University won the 12-team race hosted by Roanoke College with its 31 points, while Maximillian Sparks from the University of Lynchburg finished first individually with his time of 24:44.1.
Stimpson finished 73rd among the field of 124 runners who completed the conference championship race, as the Tigers placed 11th with 319 points. Stimpson was followed by freshmen Ryan Haynie/Richmond (29:32.3, 84th) and Taisho Miller/Virginia Beach (31:01.8, 101st), sophomore Bennett Diggs/West Point (31:07.7, 103rd), seniors Thomas Gorman/Naples, Fla. (31:09.6, 104th) and John Dyke/Keswick (31:12.9, 106th), sophomores Christian Berner/Portsmouth (31:53.7, 111th) and David Lowman/Staunton (31:57.9, 112th), along with freshman Adam Buell/Onancock (34:38.9, 120th).
In addition to Stimpson; Haynie, Miller, Diggs, Gorman, Dyke, Berner, Lowman, and Buell—each Tiger participating—ran a new season-best 8K time.
H-SC has completed its 2019 campaign with its efforts at the ODAC Championships.
