Hampden-Sydney Swimming Finishes Ninth At Yellow Jacket Invitational

CHESTERFIELD, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College swim team finished ninth out of 12 teams at the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College. Division II Barton College easily won the event with 1,969 points, outdistancing second-place Catholic University of America, 1294. Randolph-Macon College (903), Washington College (MD) (853), and the University of Lynchburg (729) rounded out the top five.

The Tigers finished with 286 points, finishing ahead of Marymount University, Virginia Wesleyan University and Bridgewater College.

The meet took place at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center in Chesterfield.

In the 100 Yard Back, junior Zach Stephan/Hampton finished 10th in a time of :56.47. He followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the 100 Yard Free with a time of :49.08.

The team of Stephan, junior AJ Howard/Washington, N.C., junior Anthony Vinson/Richmond, and sophomore Woody Parsons/Virginia Beach finished 10th in the 400 Yard Free Relay in a time of 3:25.02.

H-SC returns to the pool on Saturday, December 7 when takes on Gallaudet at 1 p.m. The neutral site meet will take place at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, Va.
