AMHERST, Va. -- Sophomore Zach Stephan/Hampton set new school-records in both the 200 Meter Free and the 50 Meter Free to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a 148-46 victory past Emory & Henry College on Saturday at Sweet Briar College in Amherst. Stephan also won the 100 Meter Back, while freshman Woody Parsons/Virginia Beach added wins in both the 800 Meter Free and the 100 Meter Fly for the Tigers.
Stephan swam a record 2:07.21 in winning the 200 Free, and posted a 50 Free record of 24.91 while swimming the first leg of the 200 Meter Free Relay. He added a 1:05.26 in winning the 100 Back, while Parsons swam a season-best 9:39.60 in winning the 800 Free, and posted 1:02.44 in winning the 100 Fly.
Senior Hudson Elmore/Richmond won the 200 Meter IM in 2:28.27. Classmate Robert Brown/Goochland won the 400 Meter Free in a season-best 4:58.68. Sophomore Anthony Vinson/Richmond won the 50 Meter Free in 25.68.
In addition to Stephan on the winning 200 Free Relay that posted a time of 1:44.08, the other three swimmers were freshman Jason Covaney/Williamsburg, Parsons and sophomore Eric Hope/Norfolk. The 200 Meter Medley Relay was victorious, as well, posting 2:00.55 and included Elmore, senior Brady Updike/Lynchburg, sophomore AJ Howard/Washington, N.C. and junior Brandon Koch/Spotsylvania.
H-SC will host both Ferrum College and Roanoke College on Saturday, January 26, at 2 p.m. at the Leggett Swimming Pool.
