LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Freshman Woody Parsons/Virginia Beach won both the 100 Fly and the 1000 Free, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a narrow 101-96 decision on the road at Randolph College on Friday night in Lynchburg. Senior Hudson Elmore/Richmond finished second to Parsons in the 100 Fly, while freshman Ryan Stover/Newport News finished second in both the 100 Back and the 50 Free for the visiting Tigers.
Parsons swam a season-best 56.14 in winning the 100 Fly, while Elmore was runner-up at 56.75, also a season-best time. Parsons posted a 10:45.52 in claiming the 1000 Free. Stover, who just recently joined the team this semester, swam 1:01.59 in the 100 Back and 23.57 in the 50 Free, both times good for second-place finishes.
Other runner-up efforts included sophomore AJ Howard/Washington, N.C. in the 200 Free (1:57.91, season-best), sophomore Zach Stephan/Hampton in the 200 IM (2:11.67), sophomore Eric Hope/Norfolk in the 100 Free (56.24), senior Brady Updike/Lynchburg in the 100 Breast (1:07.47, season-best), as well as the 400 Medley Relay of Stephan, Updike, junior Brandon Koch/Spotsylvania and Howard (3:56.91) along with the 400 Free Relay of Howard, sophomore Anthony Vinson/Richmond, Elmore and Stephan (3:30.09, season-best).
H-SC will have a short turnaround as the Tigers will compete again on Saturday, January 19, at 1 p.m. against Emory & Henry College at Sweet Briar College in Amherst.
