Swimming Opens Season at ODAC Relays

2018-19 Swim Team


Hampden-Sydney Swimming opened their season at the ODAC Relays, finishing fourth amongst ten teams.


  • Scores: Washington and Lee 395, Roanoke 295, Randolph-Macon 266, Hampden-Sydney 180, Randolph 136, Bridgewater 78, Emory & Henry 52, Virginia Wesleyan 45, Greensboro 33, Ferrum 18
  • Location: Lexington, VA


  • The team of AJ Howard, Woody Parsons, Anthony Vinson, and Brandon Koch placed third in the 100 yard dolphin kick with a time of 57.12
  • Howard, Brendan Cox, Ben Hiter, and Eric Hope took home third in the 8x25 yard free relay at 1:28.94
  • The 3x50 butterfly quartet of Howard, Parsons, and Zach Stephan finished in 1:16.31 to place fifth
  • Drew Long, Brady Updike, and Jack Dickerson hit the final block in 1:34.24 in the 3x50 yard breaststroke to earn sixth place
  • H-SC placed seventh in the 200 yard medley relay at 1:48.02 behind the efforts of Elmore, Dickerson, Howard, and Stephan
  • Vinson, Robert Brown, and Hudson Elmore clocked in at 1:24.99, good for eighth, in the 3x50 yard backstroke
  • Brown, Koch, Jason Covaney, and Updike picked up a #8 placement in the 400 yard freestyle relay, registering a time of 3:37.87
  • Koch, Stephan, Covaney, and Hope posted a time of 1:34.26 in the 200 yard freestyle to take eighth
  • Howard, Vinson, and Elmore recorded an eighth-place finish in the 3x100 yard IM at 3:07.11
