(December 18, 2008) SALEM, VA – Hampden-Sydney senior midfielders Jason Powell (Marietta, GA/Pope) and Jason Butler (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) have been named to the 2008 ODAC all-tournament team for their strong play in the event. The Tigers entered the tournament as the fourth seeded team, and advanced to the semifinals after beating Washington and Lee 1-0. Hampden-Sydney then fell in the semifinals in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Roanoke.
Powell and Butler were crucial to the success of the Tigers in the tournament, as well as the entire season. Powell tallied one goal and one assist in the Tigers' two post season games while Butler's aggressive play in the midfield allowed Hampden-Sydney to control possessions and attack offensively.
Joining Powell and Butler on the all-tournament team are Lynchburg's Matt Sturdivant and Zach Ward, Roanoke's Chris Collins, Cameron Lee, and Michael Rouhana, and Virginia Wesleyan's Jay Coble, Kyle Miller, Jason Malkiewicz, and Robbie Mann. Mann also earned tournament MVP honors.
