Awards Continue to Pile Up For Lacrosse Standout Cole Hawthorne

PERRY, NY - Cole Hawthorne (Richmond, VA/Collegiate) continues to fill his trophy case with rewards in the off-season after being named a USILA Academic All-American as well as being picked to represent the South team in the annual USILA Division III North/South Senior All-Star game.

Hawthorne becomes just the fifth player in Hampden-Sydney lacrosse history to be named a USILA Academic All-American. While his on-field accomplishments are plenty, his off-field work in the classroom is perhaps even more impressive. A chemistry major, Cole sports a 3.67 cumulative GPA and the number of honor societies he has been inducted into are numerous: Phi Beta Kappa National Honors Society, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honors Society, Chi Beta Phi National Science Honors Society, and he was named a Samuel S. Jones Phi Beta Kappa Scholar in Natural Sciences. Additionally, Hawthorne has been an academic All-ODAC player all four years.

The USILA Division III North/South All-Star game features 64 senior players - 32 from the North and 32 from the South - and the South team will be coached by the staff from Franklin & Marshall. Hawthorne will be wearing his usual #25 jersey and is one of 10 midfielders on the team. The game will be played at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, on Friday, May 27, at 3 p.m.
