No. 14 Hampden-Sydney Golf Moves Up To Third After Day Two At 2019 ODAC Championship In North Carolina

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. -- Hampden-Sydney College posted a second-round team score of 300 on Monday for a 36-hole score of 606 to move up to third place among 12 teams at the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Bryan Park Champions Course in Browns Summit, North Carolina.  Junior Adam Hade/Richmond (77-74) and freshman John Hatcher Ferguson/Rocky Mount (72-79) are leading the Tigers with their respective two-day scores of 151, each tied for ninth among 60 golfers at the par 72, 6,895-yard layout.

Hade's second round included two birdies and 13 pars, while Ferguson had one eagle, one birdie and nine pars on Monday.  They are being followed by junior Bruce Shober/Appomattox (78-75) and sophomore Allen Smith/Durham, N.C. (79-74) at 153, tied for 17th, respectively, along with freshman Hunter Martin/Gloucester at 80-77--157 (t26).  Shober had three birdies and 10 pars.  Smith had three birdies and 11 pars.  Martin had one birdie and 11 pars.

The Tigers finished day two second in overall par 3 scoring (3.18, +7), third in par 4 scoring (4.31, +31) and tied for fourth in par 5 scoring (5.18, +7).  H-SC is third in pars (95), tied for third in birdies (23) and tied for fourth in eagles (1).  Ferguson is tied for second in par 4 scoring (4.10, +2) and eagles (1), while tied for fifth in par 3 scoring (3.00, E) and birdies (6).  Smith is tied for second in par 3 scoring (2.88, -1) and tied for ninth in birdies (5).  Hade is tied for third in par 5 scoring (4.63, -3) and pars (23), while tied for 19th in birdies (4).  Shober is tied for ninth in par 5 scoring (4.75, -2), tied for 12th in pars (20) and also tied for 19th in birdies (4).  Martin is tied for 19th in birdies (4), as well.

Nationally-ranked No. 6 Guilford is leading the championship with its 583, followed by No. 10 Washington and Lee (588), the No. 14 Tigers (606), Randolph-Macon (608) and Bridgewater (624) among the top five teams.  Josh Hill of Guilford is the individual leader at two-under 142 through 36 holes.

H-SC remains 14th in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll and the Golfstat Division III Top 25, while also remaining sixth in the Southeast Region.  

The Tigers will continue and conclude their competition in the three-day, 54-hole tournament on Tuesday in North Carolina.
