SANDESTIN, FL-The Hampden-Sydney golf team competed in the highly competitive field of 18 teams in the three-day Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational, placing tenth overall. As a team, the Tigers shot rounds of 293, 292, and 298 to shoot 31-over par. Emory dominated the event, finishing ten-under par as a team. Huntingdon (-1) and Southwestern (+4) rounded out the top three.
Junior Bruce Shober (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox) led the group and tied for 14th, finishing one over par courtesy rounds of 72-71-71. Adam Hade (Richmond, VA/Deep Run) was eight strokes behind Shober, tying for 38th with scores of 72, 74, and 76.
John Hatcher Ferguson (Rocky Mount, VA/Franklin County) shot 11-over par (73-76-75) to tie for 45th, and Hunter Martin (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) went 80-72-76 to finish in 59th place at 15-over par.
Allen Smith (Durham, NC/Durham Academy) rounded out the group, placing 71st, shooting 76-75-80 (+18).
The Tigers will wrap up their fall season on October 22 as they compete in the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC.
