Golf Stands in Second After Day One at Royal Lakes

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA-The Hampden-Sydney golf team has had a strong start to the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational, standing in second place with Maryville College at four-over par in the first day of competition. Both the Tigers and Scots are just one stroke off leader Babson College (+3).

John Hatcher Ferguson (Rocky Mount, VA/Franklin County) leads the group and is tied for third individually, shooting two-under par today. Bruce Shober (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox) is tied for 15th at one-over par, and Hunter Martin (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) is one stroke behind him in 25th place.

Allen Smith (Durham, NC/Durham Academy) shot a 75 (+3) on the day to stand in 36th place, and Adam Hade (Richmond, VA/Deep Run) rounds out the group with a 78 (+5), for 60th place.

The Tigers will start action at 9:53 AM tomorrow and will be paired with Maryville and Birmingham Southern. You can follow the action through's live stats.
