Hampden-Sydney Plays At Emory & Henry On Saturday

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College will conclude its 2018-19 men's basketball season on the road at Emory & Henry College for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game on Saturday, February 16, at 4:30 p.m. in Emory.  The Tigers are 4-18 overall, 1-14 in the ODAC, while the Wasps are 15-9 overall, 8-7 in the ODAC.  The contest can be heard locally on WFLO Radio, 95.7 FM.

Scouting the Tigers
H-SC is coached by 11th-year head coach Dee Vick '94, who has led the program to an overall record of 156-138 (tied for second all-time in wins), including 81-94 in the ODAC.  Vick is assisted by Chuck Thomas, T.J. Grimes and Daniel Eacho.

H-SC has dropped a highly uncharacteristic 16 consecutive contests, including 11-straight ODAC games, following a 91-80 home setback to Lynchburg on Feb. 13.  The Tigers have been led this season by junior guard Chaise Johnson/Richmond, who is averaging 11.6 points (22 3FGs) and 2.6 rebounds.  He is followed by junior guard/forward Kevin Quinn/Durham, N.C. (8.8 points [39 3GFs], 3.0 rebounds), freshman forward Warren Zager/Nashville, Tenn. (7.9 points, 5.2 rebounds), sophomore center/forward Jake Hahn/Ruckersville (7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds) along with senior forward and team captain Justin Reid/Cary, N.C. (6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds).  H-SC is averaging 66.4 points per game, while allowing 79.3 points to opponents.

Scouting the Wasps
E&H is coached by sixth-year head coach David Willson.  David is a 2004 graduate of H-SC and was a three-year letter winner for the Tigers.  The Wasps have dropped three-straight games, including a 67-60 league road loss at Guilford on Feb. 13.  E&H has been led by junior guard Daniel Spencer (18.5 points [38 3FGs], 6.8 rebounds, sophomore guard Tharon Suggs (16.7 points [51 3FGs], 4.1 rebounds), senior forward Alic Wynn (11.9 points, 11.8 rebounds) along with senior guard Jarris Hendricks (11.8 points [47 3FGs], 4.6 rebounds).  The Wasps are averaging 77.4 points, while yielding 73.0 points.

Tigers among ODAC Leaders
Chaise Johnson leads the ODAC in free throw percentage (88.5%, 69-78).  Sophomore Brendan McHale/Charleston, S.C. ranks fifth in assists (3.7) and 20th in assist/turnover ratio (1.5).  Freshman Cole Atwood/Mount Olive, N.C. ranks eighth in three-point percentage.  Freshman Morgan McKay/Banner Elk, N.C. ranks 11th in blocks (0.7).
