Washington and Lee University defeated Hampden-Sydney Basketball 92-67 in each team's ODAC opener on Sunday afternoon.

- H-SC took the early advantage, leading 5-0 and then 9-5 at 15:32,
- The Generals reeled off 16 of the next 18 points to surge ahead 21-11 midway through the first half
- W&L went up 46-25 with 59 seconds to go in the opening stanza, but the Tigers secured the last four points of the half with a Will Sparks jumper at seven seconds followed by a Malik Crute steal and W&L foul in the bonus leading to two free throw makes from Crute
- The second half went the Generals way as the Tigers trailed by at least 14 the rest of the game

- Malik Crute scored a game-high 14 points to go with five steals, four assists, three rebounds, and one block in 19 minutes
- Nick Chase and Raheem Anthony each contributed nine points
FOR THE FOES
- Clayton Murtha recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds
- Devin Kearns tallied 16 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and three steals
- Alex Starr tacked on 12 points
- Curtis Mitchell grabbed 11 rebounds off the bench
