HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-The #19 Tigers (17-2, 9-1 ODAC) remain at home for a Wednesday night showdown against the Hornets of Lynchburg College (16-3, 7-3 ODAC). Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm, and the first 200 students to arrive will get a free t-shirt courtesy Bojangles' of Farmville.
Wednesday will be another tough test for the Tigers, who moved up four spots in the most recent D3Hoops.com Top-25 Poll; the Hornets have now moved closer to the Top-25 and for the first time this season are receiving one vote. The two teams have already met this season with the Tigers claiming a 79-70 victory in Lynchburg on January 9.
With six ODAC games remaining, the Tigers currently stand in a tie with Virginia Wesleyan for first place in the conference. Lynchburg, enjoying one of its best seasons in recent history, is not far behind standing in a tie with Randolph for third place.
Hampden-Sydney is currently riding a six game winning streak and a 16 game home winning streak in Fleet Gymnasium courtesy a 76-52 win over Guilford on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers were led by Leon Hargrove (Raleigh, NC/Middle Creek) who tallied career-highs with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and six assists.
Lynchburg is on a hot streak of its own, downing Eastern Mennonite on Saturday 74-67 and winning its last five games after falling to the Tigers earlier in the month. Prior to that match up, the Hornets had won six straight games.
