Duo of Former Gridiron Stars to Meet in VHSL 6A State Finals


HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-As Ocean Lakes High School and Centreville High School meet on December 13 in the 6A State Championship, two former Hampden-Sydney football stars will match wits, as former defensive backs Chris Scott '03 and Chris Haddock '93 lead Ocean Lakes and Centreville, respectively.

The two teams will meet at 4:07 pm at Scott Stadium on the campus of the University of Virginia.

Ocean Lakes stands at a perfect 14-0 while Centreville comes into the finals at 12-2, with losses coming to Gonzaga and Westfield. The Wildcats' game against Gonzaga was featured on the Geico ESPN High School Showcase.

Scott, a 2013 Hall of Fame inductee, was a two-time All-American and three-time first team All-ODAC pick. Scott had 20 interceptions and was the ODAC leader for picks in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Additionally, he tallied 242 tackles, including a career-high 91 as a sophomore.

Haddock, a four-year starter, recorded 11 interceptions over his career to go with 123 tackles while helping the Tigers to a winning record each year. He was also an All-ODAC shortstop for the baseball team.
