ROANOKE, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College swept the three doubles matches, as well as all six singles contests, for a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's tennis victory past Emory & Henry College on Saturday at the Batten Tennis Courts at Hollins University in Roanoke. The Tigers concluded their ODAC regular season with six-straight wins to improve to 11-9 overall, finishing 10-1 in the ODAC, while the Wasps dropped to 9-7 overall, 3-7 in the ODAC.
In doubles, junior brothers Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. won at No. 1, 8-1. Junior Grayson Burns/Waynesboro and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg won at No. 2, 8-2. Junior Clark Cummings/Norfolk and freshman Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C. won at No. 3, 8-3.
In singles, Matthew Moody, this week's ODAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, won at No. 1 by scores of 6-2, 6-3. Michael Moody won at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Driskill won at No. 3 by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Burns won at No. 4 by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Cummings won at No. 5, by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Brice won at No. 6 by scores of 6-0, 6-3.
H-SC has secured the #2 seed for the ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament and will host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, April 30, at the H-SC Tennis Courts. Official tourney pairings and match times will be released by the conference office on Sunday, April 28.
