Matthew Moody Named ODAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College junior Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the period April 15-21.

The third-year standout led the Tigers to a 2-0 week with a home win past Guilford (8-1), before a road win at Bridgewater (9-0), while winning the two singles matches as well as the two doubles matches.  Playing at number one singles, he posted a 6-3, 5-7, 10-1 win against his opponent from GC, and a 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 win at BC.  Playing at number one doubles, as well, along with his twin brother (Michael Moody), the duo won against the Quakers, 8-6, while winning against the Eagles, 8-3.

Through 18 matches, Matthew Moody has compiled an overall singles record of 7-11 at number one, including 6-3 in the ODAC.  In doubles, he is 11-7 overall, including 8-1 in the ODAC.  This includes a doubles record of 8-3 overall, 7-1 in the ODAC when paired with his brother (Michael Moody), while 3-4 overall, 1-0 in the ODAC, when teamed with sophomore William Driskill.

H-SC (9-9, 8-1) will welcome ODAC member Roanoke College on Tuesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. … a match that was rescheduled from April 13 due to rain.  It marks the final regular-season home contest for the Tigers.
