Hampden-Sydney Tennis Falls To No. 8 Washington (Mo.) 8-1

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Hampden-Sydney College dropped an 8-1 non-conference tennis decision to nationally-ranked No. 8 Washington (Mo.) University on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida.  Junior Clark Cummings/Norfolk and freshman Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C. garnered the point at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-2.  The Tigers are now 1-5 overall, remaining 1-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

WU, ranked eighth in the latest Oracle/ ITA Division III Men's National Team Rankings, won the other two matches in doubles, before taking the six matches in singles.  Junior Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg fell at No. 1, 3-8.  Juniors Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and Grayson Burns/Waynesboro fell at No. 2, 2-8.

In singles, Matthew Moody fell at No. 1 by scores of 2-6, 1-6.  Michael Moody fell at No. 2 by scores of 2-6, 3-6.  Driskill fell at No. 3 by scores of 2-6, 1-6.  Burns fell at No. 4 by scores of 1-6, 2-6.  Brice fell at No. 5 by scores of 0-6, 0-6.  Cummings fell at No. 6 by scores of 1-6, 2-6.

H-SC continues and completes its Spring Break trip with two matches on Friday, March 15 … playing Scranton (Pa.) at 8 a.m. and NCAA Division II Rockhurst (Mo.) at 3 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.
