Hampden-Sydney Drops Opener At No. 15 North Carolina Wesleyan 7-2

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Junior Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. earned a win at No. 2 singles, and teamed with his twin brother, classmate Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C., to win at No. 1 doubles, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 7-2 non-conference tennis decision on the road at No. 15 North Carolina Wesleyan College on Saturday in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  The Tigers (0-1) will next play NCAA Division I Norfolk State University on Saturday, February 9, at 6 p.m. at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach.

Michael Moody won at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-2, while he and Matthew Moody won at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-6.  Matthew Moody fell at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 7-10.

Also competing in doubles were junior Grayson Burns/Waynesboro and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg, who fell at No. 2 by a score of 4-8, along with freshmen Alex Zorko/Heusenstamm, Germany and Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C., who fell at No. 3 by a score of 4-8.

Playing in singles, as well, and falling were Burns at No. 3 (0-6, 4-6), Driskill at No. 4 (3-6, 2-6), Brice at No. 5 (2-6, 0-6) and sophomore Andrew Donelson/McLean at No. 6 (4-6, 3-6).
