Tennis Sweeps Singles On Way to 7-2 Win Over Lynchburg

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - The Hampden-Sydney Tennis team swept all six singles matches on their way to a 7-2 win over the visiting Lynchburg College Hornets.

Derek Kegerreis and Owen Landon teamed to defeat Zack King (Henrico, VA / Mills Godwin) and Houghton Flanagan (Charlotte, NC / Myers Park) 8-6 at #1 doubles while Tyler Long and Matt Karveias took down Aleksandar Turkovic (Belgrade, Serbia / Miller School) and Tanner Fox (Lexington, VA / Parry McCluer) 8-3 at #3 doubles. David Dodson (Roanoke, VA / Cave Spring) and Lawrence Bowers (New Bern, NC / Arendell Parrott Academy) made quick work of Josh Johnson and Kevin Lee, winning 8-0.

H-SC then went on to win in straight sets in all singles matches. King won 7-5, 6-4 at the #1 flight while Dodson went 6-4, 6-0 at #2. Flanagan rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win at the #3 spot, and Watt Mountcastle (Richmond, VA / Freeman) earned a 7-5, 6-0 decision at the #4 flight. Bowers took a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #5 spot while Houston Wilson (Norfolk, VA / Norfolk Collegiate) closed out singles play with a 6-3, 7-5 win.

H-SC hits the road to play Bridgewater on Thursday at 3 pm.
