Tennis Concludes Season with 5-1 Loss to Guilford in ODAC Tournament
GREENSBORO, NC - The tennis team concluded their season on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 loss at Guilford College in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
Kevin Calhoun (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin) and Watt Mountcastle (Richmond, VA / Freeman) fell 8-3 at 31 doubles while Barrett Polan (Greenwich, CT / Greenwich) and Zack King (Henrico, VA / Mills Godwin) lost a close 8-6 decision at #2 doubles. Ryan Davis (Roanoke, VA / Cave Spring) and Franklin Bowers (New Bern, NC / Arendell Parrott Academy) earned the lone Tigers win at #3 doubles, taking down Mark Cheon and Ben Nelson 8-6.
Tyler Mercier defeated Calhoun 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles, and Clayton Hamilton earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #3 flight. Colin Rapp sealed the win for the Quakers with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the #4 seed over Houghton Flanagan (Charlotte, NC / Myers Park). The other three singles matches were not completed as the matchup was played to decision.
The Tigers end their season with a 5-7 overall record and a 4-5 ODAC record.
