Tennis Picked Second in ODAC Pre-Season Poll, Receives Two First Place Votes
FOREST, VA - The Hampden-Sydney Tigers tennis team was recently picked second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Pre-Season Poll, as voted on by league coaches. The Tigers received two first place votes and 92 points overall while Washington & Lee took first with five first-place tallies.
H-SC returns five All-ODAC singles players, but will be tasked with the responsibility of replacing four-time ODAC Player of the Year Will Moss '10. Last year's #2 player, Richard Pugh, went 10-1 overall while #3 Shad Harrell posted a 10-6 record, 7-1 in the ODAC. Tal Covington, last year's #5 singles player, had a 6-1 record in ODAC player and 9-5 overall to found out the ODAC first-teamers. Kevin Calhoun, the #4 singles participant, and #6 Zack Pack combined to go 19-10 overall and 12-2 in the conference. Pugh was also a first-teamer in doubles while paired with Moss, while the tandems of Calhoun and Harrell at #2 and Covington and Pack at #3 were named second-team a season ago.
The Tigers will open up their season at home on Wednesday, March 2, as they host ODAC foe Randolph College at 3 p.m.
