LYNCHBURG, VA (April 5, 2009)–Hampden-Sydney had a hard fought victory on Sunday as they defeated Emory & Henry 6-3 at a neutral site in Lynchburg, VA. The Tigers were without their usual no. 2 player Rich Pugh (Augusta, GA/Lakeside), but managed without him.

The Tigers saw great wins in singles from their three through six spots, but William Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) took his first loss of the season. Moss defeated Ben Blevins in the first set 6-0, but fell in the second 5-1 and was unable to play a third set. Moss did, however, pair with Philip Parrish (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman) to get a quality doubles win.

Parrish also had a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory in singles play.

With the win the Tigers improve to 7-4 on the year and 5-1 in the ODAC.

The Tigers return home on Wednesday, April 8 as they host Roanoke College at 3:30 pm.
