The Tiger swim team has enjoyed steady improvement from year to year throughout Coach Leonard's tenure, setting new school records at virtually every meet year after year. Starting with the 2014-15 season, the team competed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference after being an independent program for the first three years.
The 2018 squad set a new record for most dual meet wins with nine as the Tigers asserted their dominance over several new ODAC opponents, going 4-1 in the regular season vs. first-year ODAC teams and then defeating all of them at the ODAC Championship meet to place third.
The 2017 team was the best to date. The Tigers finished second at the ODAC Championship meet, the highest ever placement for H-SC, while Coach Leonard was named the ODAC Coach of the Year. The Tigers won five dual meets and placed six on the All-ODAC team, including the team's first-ever First-Teamer. H-SC also defeated Randolph-Macon for the first time, coming at the ODAC Championship meet.
Hampden-Sydney was awarded the league's first ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in 2015 and has placed 10 student-athletes on the All-ODAC team since the 2015-16 season, including a First-Teamer in 2017
Coach Leonard was the Assistant Fitness Director for TigeRec from 2010 to 2012 and was promoted to Director in December 2012. In her role with TigeRec, she is an AFPA (American Fitness Professional and Associates) Certified Personal Trainer and is the Fitness Instructor.
