Hampden-Sydney Defeats Ferrum 165-23, Falls To Roanoke 140-64

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Freshman Woody Parsons/Virginia Beach swam season-bests in both the 400 Meter Free and the 800 Meter Free, while sophomore Zach Stephan/Hampton posted a season-best in the 800 Meter Free as Hampden-Sydney College defeated Ferrum College 165-23, but fell to Roanoke College 140-64 on Saturday at the Leggett Swimming Pool.

Parsons posted a 9:14.80 in winning the 800 Free, and finished in 4:24.52 while placing second in the 400 Free.  He also swam on the 200 Meter Medley Relay that was third in 1:58.03.

Stephan posted a 54.75 in winning the 100 Meter Free, and finished in 9:46.79 for third in the 800 Free.  He also swam on the 200 Meter Free Relay that was second in 1:43.03.

Sophomore Anthony Vinson/Richmond placed second in the 100 Meter Back with a time of 1:07.19, was third in the 200 Meter Free in 2:08.19 and swam on the 200 Free Relay.

Sophomore AJ Howard/Washington, N.C. won the 100 Meter Fly in 1:02.99, and also swam on the 200 Free Relay.

Senior Hudson Elmore/Richmond was fourth in the 100 Meter Fly in 1:03.87.  Classmate Jack Dickerson/Virginia Beach was fourth in the 200 Meter IM in 2:32.11.  Senior Andrew Long/Powhatan was fourth in the 100 Meter Breast in 1:15.96.  Junior Brandon Koch/Spotsylvania was fourth in the 50 Meter Free in 26.25.  

In addition to Stephan, Vinson and Howard on the 200 Free Relay, the other swimmer was sophomore Eric Hope/Norfolk.  Joining Parsons on the 200 Medley Relay were Elmore, Koch and senior Brady Updike/Lynchburg.

H-SC is now idle from competition until the upcoming 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimming ChampionshipsFebruary 15-17 at theGreensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
