Shorthanded Tigers Fall 2-1 to Johns Hopkins

Johns Hopkins came out on top 2-1 against Hampden-Sydney Soccer in the season opener played at the University of Mary Washington on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • H-SC came into the contest shorthanded with several injuries to starters and key reserves, but the Tigers kept themselves in the game.
  • Hopkins got on board in the 15th minutes when RJ Moore finished off a pass from Tim Treinen
  • JHU pushed their advantage to 2-0 at 18:14 as Moore assisted Sebastian Salathe
  • H-SC didn't back down and an aggressive possession by the Tigers saw the Bluejays commit a foul in the box, leading to a Hunter Weiland penalty kick goal at 39:33
  • H-SC went into the half down 2-1 despite being outside 7-2
  • The Tiger defense kept Hopkins off the scoreboard in the second half while giving up 10 shots, but H-SC only managed one shot after halftime
