LEXINGTON, VA - Washington & Lee soccer used a quick score in each half to earn the 2-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over the visiting Tigers of Hampden-Sydney.
W&L's Conor Starr scored on an unassisted tally in the sixth minute while Parker Wolfinger scored a header goal off a crossing pass from Al Organ in the 49th minute. Hampden-Sydney upped the offensive pressure late in the second-half but was unable to break through the General defense.
Washington & Lee outshot H-SC 14-7, including a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. Duncan Oliphant (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) made five saves in net. A tightly called contest, 31 fouls were called while each team was issued two yellow card.
Hampden-Sydney will look to rebound on Tuesday with a road game in Lynchburg, VA, against Randolph College, which is ranked 25th in the D3soccer.com Top 25 Poll.
