Tigers Brave Winter Weather, Tops Scranton 10-8

In a game delayed 75 minutes due to snowy conditions, the Tigers topped the University of Scranton Royals 10-8 on Monday evening.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Scranton's Conor Carey scored just 20 seconds into the game on an unassisted tally, but Hunter Brown scored off a fed from Jared Medwar just over a minute later to tie it at 1-1.
  • Carey found the back of the net again at 11:16 to regain the lead for the Royals, but John Burke, Medwar, and Chandler Shaheen rattled off the next three to go ahead 4-2 at 2:25.
  • Scranton won the ensuing face-off with Carey picking up the ground ball and made one pass to Tim Dolan who converted just seconds after the Tigers scored
  • Connor Pool would provide H-SC with another two-goal cushion as he produced a man-up tally off a Burke assist at 1:30
  • Scoring came at a premium in the middle two quarters. Ian Levin scored the lone goal of the second quarter to send H-SC into halftime 6-3
  • The Royals would hold the Tigers scoreless in the third as they shaved their deficit to just one off goals from Joe Hill and Brian Murphy
  • The scoring pace picked back up in the fourth quarter, but Scranton's Quinn Killeen scored first to tie the game at 6-6 with 14:39 to play
  • Shaheen scored the next two for the Tigers, both unassisted, at 13:17 and 8:42
  • Jack Hayden scored just 31 seconds later to push the lead out to three at 9-6
  • H-SC found themselves down three players at 4:44 off three one-minute penalties, including one of the unreleaseable variety
  • With only three defensemen on the field, Scranton needed just 18 seconds to score as Tim Dolan fed Connor Kirkwood
  • Still man-up, Kirkwood would again score at 3:43 to draw the Royals within one
  • H-SC won the next face-off, but Scranton was able to beat the Tigers to the sideline on a shot at 2:31
  • Mitch Renfrow stopped a Joe Hill shot at 1:43 and secured the ball, leading to a Tiger clear with 1:36 remaining
  • Medwar would seal the game with 51 seconds to play as he scored with the goalkeeper out of the net playing defense in the field

FOR THE FOES

  • Connor Kirkwood and Conor Carey each contributed two goals and an assist
  • Tim Dolan and Joe Hill posted one goal and one assist apiece
