Senior captains Jared Arntzen and Triston Stegall became just the 11th and 12th Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse student-athletes to be named USILA Scholar All-Americans on Thursday. The duo also recently played in the USILA North vs. South All-Star Game.
Arntzen was named Second-Team All-ODAC earlier this month. He was one of the top faceoff players in the nation as he won 64.9% of his faceoff attempts with 157 ground balls, the second most in school history. His faceoff win percentage ranked 21st in the country and he also ranked 9th in total ground balls. He capped his career with the fifth most career ground balls in school history.
Stegall was also named Second-Team All-ODAC earlier this month. He was one of the Tiger's top defensemen this season and was frequently up to the task of defending a premier scoring threat. In the ODAC Tournament, he shut down All-ODAC players Sam Dardani (W&L), Stephen LaTona (Shenandoah), and Andrew Thomas (Lynchburg), limiting them to a measly combined two goals on nine shots in an impressive team defensive efforts that saw each ODAC Tournament opponent held to below their season scoring average.
