Lacrosse Runs Past Randolph 14-4

LYNCHBURG, VA – Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse ran past the Randolph College WildCats on Wednesday night 14-4.

The Tigers scored four times in the opening quarter, with goals coming courtesy of Thomas Armstrong (Charlotte, NC / Charlotte Latin), Jake Koferl (Huntersville, NC / Lake Norman), James Hughes (Raleigh, NC / Middle Creek), and Evan Boden (Washington, DC / St. Stephens & St. Agnes). Randolph's offense woke up in the second quarter with four scores, but the Tigers scored four of their own to go into the break ahead 8-4. Hampden-Sydney found the back of the net three times each in the third and fourth frames while shutting out the WildCats in the second half for the 14-4 win.

Hughes posted four goals and one assist while Koferl scored three times. Armstrong contributed two goals, and Sam Rapoport (Suffolk, VA / Nansemond-Suffolk) tacked on a goal and an assist. Casey Bendall (Richmond, VA / St. Christopher's) tallied four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.

Cam Davis posted 14 of Randolph's 20 saves.

H-SC outshot Randolph 46-24 and held a 36-27 advantage in ground balls. The Tigers went flawless on clears, converting all 23, while Randolph was 14-for-19.

Hampden-Sydney travels to Washington & Lee University on Saturday for a 1 pm game to close out the regular season.
