Lax Tigers Picked Third in ODAC Pre-Season Poll

FOREST, VA - The Hampden-Sydney lacrosse team was picked third in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) pre-season poll, as voted on by the ODAC coaches. The Tigers collected 48 points while Roanoke and Lynchburg are tied atop the poll with 59 points apiece.

Hampden-Sydney will have a big hole to fill in the midfield with the departure of 2010 ODAC Player of the year and second-team All-American Kyle Jett '10, but the Tigers do return a plethora of talent, including four All-ODAC performers. Micah Keller (Richmond, VA/Christchurch), a first-team All-ODACer in 2010, is the leading returning scorer in the conference with 47 goals and 12 assists for 59 points. He paced the ODAC in goals per game at 2.76 and was sixth in points at 3.59 a contest. Second-team honoree Ben Clarke (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) totaled 50 points on 34 goals and 16 assists in 2010. Cole Hawthorne (Richmond, VA/Collegiate) and Andrew Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver) were tabbed to the honorable mention team. Hawthorne, a 2011 team captain, scored 25 goals and handed out 21 assists last season while Pritzlaff totaled 32 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers as the top returning defensive player for the Tigers.

The Tigers host Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, February 12, at 1 p.m. in an exhibition contest while the regular season officially begins on Saturday, February 19, with a road game at Mary Washington with face-off time slated for 1 p.m.
