No. 14 Hampden-Sydney Golf Remains 13th After Day Three At The 2019 NCAA Division III National Championships

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- Nationally-ranked No. 14 Hampden-Sydney College posted a third-round team score of 309 on Thursday for a 54-hole score of 921 (297-315-309) to remain in 13th-place at the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships being played at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.  The Tigers will complete their competition in the 72-hole national championship tournament on Friday.

H-SC is being led by junior Adam Hade/Richmond with his three-day score of 77-78-75--230, tied for 44th among the 96 golfers still playing among the Top 18 teams in the country, along with six individual qualifiers.  He is being followed by classmate Bruce Shober/Appomattox (71-80-80--231, T-51st) and freshman John Hatcher Ferguson/Rocky Mount (79-77-75--231, T-51st), sophomore Allen Smith/Durham, N.C. (73-80-81--234, T-66th), along with freshman Hunter Martin/Gloucester (76-85-79--240, 86th).  Playing the Keene Trace Golf Club's Champion Trace course, a par 72, 7,190-yard layout, Hade had three birdies and 10 pars during round three.  Shober had three birdie and eight pars.  Ferguson had two birdies and 12 pars.  Smith had two birdies and seven pars.  Martin had three birdies and eight pars.

H-SC is 10th in par 5 scoring (5.07, +4) and 16th in par 3 scoring (3.30, +18).  The Tigers are tied for 11th in birdies (31) and are 14th in pars (144).  Hade is tied for 11th in par 3 scoring (3.08, +1).  Shober is tied for 13th in par 5 scoring (4.75, -3).  Ferguson is tied for 17th in pars (33).

Nationally-ranked No. 2 Huntingdon and No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan are tied for the team lead with their respective 880 totals, followed by fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference member and No. 6 Guilford at 882.  Rounding out the Top Five are No. 4 Wittenberg (895) and No. 5 Methodist (899).  Sam Goldenring of Williams is the individual leader at three-under par 213.

The Keene Trace Golf Club is located in the Kentucky Bluegrass of Nicholasville, approximately 12 miles southwest of Lexington.
