LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College's B Team posted a final-round team score of 344 in men's golf for a 36-hole total of 674 (330-344) to finish fourth among seven teams at the Hill City Invitational on Tuesday at the Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg. Junior John David Gooden/Myrtle Beach, S.C. led the Tigers with his two-day score of 76-81--157, tied for sixth among 42 golfers at the par 72, 6,793-yard layout.
Gooden was followed by freshmen Keith Marks/Midlothian (86-89--175, t-23rd), Henry Ingram/Richmond (85-90--175, t-23rd) and Jimmy Hill/Mechanicsville (92-84-176, t-26th). Classmate Hunter Martin/Gloucester (83) withdrew from the final round due to illness.
The University of Lynchburg won its own event with a score of 314-317--631, and Hornet Terrell Branson was the individual medalist at two-under 69-73--142.
H-SC's B Team is schedule to play again at the Marlins Invitationalon March 23-24 at the Beechwood Country Club in Ahoskie, North Carolina.
