Golfers Take Fifth at VSGA, Yerramsetti Wins Medalist Honors

SUFFOLK, VA-The Hampden-Sydney golf B-team finished sixth overall in the VSGA Intercollegiate at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, while Varun Yerramsetti (Birmingham, AL/Indian Springs) took home medalist honors, finishing the two-day tournament at one-under par.

Rob Witherspoon (Richmond, VA/Cosby) tied for 24 at 12-over par with two rounds of 78. Keith Marks (Midlothian, VA/Cosby) and Henry Ingram (Richmond, VA/Douglas S. Freeman) finished one stroke apart as Marks tied for 39 at 15-over par with rounds of 79 and 80, and Ingram placed 43, using rounds of 78 and 82 to shoot 16-over.

Dylan Taylor (Richmond, VA/Benedictine) placed 49, shooting a 75 and 87 to finish 18-over par. Jimmy Hill (Mechanicsville, VA/Hanover) rounded out the group, tying for 82 at 35-over par (93-86).

Virginia Union won the event, shooting 18-over par, and Randolph-Macon (+29) and Averett (+31) rounded out the top three. As a team, Hampden-Sydney shot 43-over par.

The Tigers will wrap up their fall season on October 22 as they compete in the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC.
