Shorthanded Tigers Fall 73-60 at Bridgewater

Short three players due to illness, the Hampden-Sydney Basketball team fell 73-60 at Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 73, Hampden-Sydney 60
  • Records: Hampden-Sydney 6-17, 3-11 ODAC; Bridgewater 14-9, 10-4 ODAC
  • Location: Bridgewater, VA – Nininger Hall

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Despite falling behind early, the Tigers found themselves tied at 13-13 with 12:46 to go in the first half
  • Bridgewater took over the contest from there, using a 22-6 run to go ahead 35-19 at the 4:48 mark, and the Eagles would go on to lead 40-25 at halftime
  • The Eagles opened the half scoring the first five to lead by 20
  • Chaise Johnson sparked a Tigers run shortly after, scoring 10 straight points, part of a 16-3 run to shave the deficit down to seven, 48-41, at 15:28
  • Bridgewater built the lead back to double digits, 57-46, at 10:49, but H-SC scored the next five to trail by just six with 6:49 remaining
  • The Tigers would not draw any closer and the Eagles led by double digits for the majority of the rest of the game

FOR THE FOES

  • Chandler Murray scored a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals
  • Josh Cammon added 15 points, seven boards, and three assists
  • Dimetri Chambers posted 15 points, five caroms, and four assists

STATS OF THE GAME

  • Both teams struggled to shoot with H-SC converting 41.5% of their attempts compared to a 39% clip for BC. The two teams combined for only 11 made three pointers on 50 attempts
  • Both teams made 21 free throws and eclipsing the 75% mark in the process
  • Rebounds proved to be the difference maker as 21 of Bridgewater's 43 rebounds were on the offensive end, resulting in 23 second chance points. The Tigers grabbed just 24 rebounds, 18 of the defensive variety
