The Emory & Henry College Wasps upended Hampden-Sydney 86-75 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wasps scored the first seven points of the contest and held the Tigers scoreless until 16:24 after a Nick Chase layup
- Trailing 10-4 after five minutes, H-SC scored the next eight, carried by Chaise Johnson's seven, to go ahead 12-10 at 11:52
- There would be several ties and lead changes in the back end of the first half. H-SC trailed 29-28 at 4:03, but the Wasps finished the half strong with an 11-4 edge to go into halftime ahead 40-32
- E&H's John Shelor drained a triple to open the half, but Nick Chase scored five straight to trim the deficit to 43-37 after two minutes
- Emory & Henry erupted for a 13-0 run over the next three minutes to jump ahead by 19, 56-37, with 15 minutes to play and H-SC would find themselves down double digits the rest of the game
TIGER TOP PERFORMERS
- Malik Crute posted team-highs of 20 points and six rebounds to go with three assists and two steals. He shot 9-13 from the field
- Chaise Johnson came off the bench to pour in 15 points as he made four three pointers
FOR THE FOES
- Colin Molden had game-high of 25 points, five assists, and three steals. He shot 10-14 and scored 19 in the second half
- Tharon Suggs added 20 points and three steals
- Alic Wynn notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards
- John Shelor added 13 points
STATS OF THE GAME
- Both teams found shooting success with E&H making 51% of their shot attempts and 11 threes while H-SC converted at a 49% rate with 10 threes
- The Wasps were +10 at the free throw line as they went 15-20 compared to a 5-7 mark for the Tigers
- Emory & Henry was +8 on the boards and led 15-6 in points off turnovers while the Tigers held a 38-26 edge in points in the paint
