HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-The Hampden-Sydney football team will hit the road for the final time in the 2018 regular season, travelling to Lexington, Virginia to face the Generals of Washington & Lee for the 77th time in the series that began in 1899.
The Tigers lead the all-time series 38-36-2 and have won six of the last 11 matchups, but Washington & Lee has been the winners of the last three outings, including a 36-6 victory last season. The last time the two teams met in Lexington, the Generals claimed a 52-7 victory.
Both teams stand in second place in the conference standings at 3-2 in league play but are both coming off losses. Hampden-Sydney had a two-game win streak snapped with a 32-19 loss at Ferrum, while the Generals fell 40-3 at Guilford, ending a three-game win streak.
Following Saturday's game, the Tigers will return home on Saturday, November 10 to host arch-rival Randolph-Macon in the 123rd edition of 'The Game.' Hampden-Sydney owns a 60-51-11 record in that series, which is the oldest small school rivalry in the South.
